Helping Fishermen Groups in Bali, PTPN Group Promotes Environmental Sustainability and Community Empowerment

Jakarta, 03 June 2023 – Holding Perkebunan Nusantara proves its commitment to consistently carry out the Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR) Program which focuses on environmental preservation and community empowerment. One of the implementations, namely by providing assistance in the form of 1 unit of sea catfish cultivation cages and 10 coastal nets to the Guna Segara fishermen group consisting of 25 members.

The assistance was handed over by the Deputy President Director of the PTPN III (Persero) Nusantara Plantation Holding, Denaldi Mulino Mauna, in Serangan Traditional Village, South Denpasar District, Denpasar City, Bali Province, on May 21, 2023. In a separate place, Denaldi explained that the TJSL program aims to support the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). “By caring for nature and empowering local communities, companies can play an important role in improving the quality of life of the community and providing sustainable benefits for them,” he said, in Jakarta (03/06/2023).

Denaldi said that the assistance was provided to facilitate fishermen to create better economic value, improve their own economy, and assist in catching small fish around the coast to be cultivated. “Through this program, it is expected to reduce damage to marine ecosystems and encourage the transition of fishing activities to fish farming, as a form of sustainable development in the fisheries sector,” Denaldi added.

Although environmental conservation and community empowerment are the main focus of PTPN Group’s TJSL program, Denaldi said that his party is ready to support other sectors to support national development. “Through this TJSL program, we hope to make a positive contribution in helping the government overcome various problems,” said Denaldi.
