PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) XI – as a subsidiary of Holding Perkebunan Nusantara PTPN III (Persero) carried out the first soybean harvest at the Sugarcane and Soybean (Bule) Tumpangsari program demonstration plot on Friday (28/10) at the Djatiroto Lumajang HGU. Also present were the Main Director of Holding, Mohammad Abdul Ghani, Director of Production and Development of Holding, Mahmudi and Director of PTPN XI, R. Tulus Panduwidjaja and a number of directors.
The Tumpangsari Bule program is an integrated cropping pattern between sugar cane and soybeans which aims to increase the usability of land in sugar cane plantations and increase the company’s income. In the future the Foreigner Program is expected to be increased to 35,000 ha which includes PTPN Group HGU land such as II, VII, IX, III and X.
In this Caucasian cropping system, sugarcane plants will grow better because of the presence of soybean root nodules containing Rhyzobium, which can fertilize sugarcane fields and can be efficient in terms of production costs.
This program has great potential, because Indonesia is still importing soybeans to meet domestic consumption needs. With this program, it is expected to be a solution to reduce soybean imports.
