PTPN Group Prioritizes ESG Concept Together with Megamendung Community

Jakarta, April 03, 2023 – The success of Holding Perkebunan Nusantara in resolving the land issue of PTPN VIII in Gunung Mas, Megamendung District, Bogor Regency, West Java, cannot be separated from the commitment of Holding Perkebunan Nusantara management in implementing the principles of sustainable development.

President Director of Holding Perkebunan Nusantara PTPN III (Persero) Mohammad Abdul Ghani said that efforts to resolve land issues in Megamendung, among others by providing Building Rights Title (HGB) for community residences and the development of the Eiger Adventure Nature tourism area and other supporting facilities on PTPN VIII Land Management Rights (HPL), are balanced solutions.

“Thus, the land issue that has been illegally occupied by the community since almost 25 years ago, thank God, can be resolved without any friction that will harm all parties,” Abdul Ghani said in Jakarta, Monday (03/04/2023).

According to Abdul Ghani, the relocation of community residences to areas that are more suitable for settlement, is a solution in improving welfare and achieving better living standards. “The collaboration between PTPN VIII and PT Eigerindo Multi Produk Industri (EMPI) in providing thousands of jobs for the surrounding community is also a solution in handling land issues,” he said.

The resolution of land problems with a humanist and populist approach carried out by PTPN VIII is considered by Abdul Ghani to be in line with the concept of ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) which is a parameter for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “Of course, the commitment to implementing ESG is part of value creation for all stakeholders,” he added.

Abdul Ghani said that in running its business, PTPN Group is committed to not only having an economic impact, but also a positive social and environmental impact, and encouraging the achievement of SDGs. “The implementation of ESG in an integrated manner is expected to increase the competitiveness and reputation of the company. So, in the future we expect the company to continue to grow and develop sustainably,” he said.
