The Ministry of BUMN, through the Nusantara Plantation Holding, continues to carry out transformations in all business lines of the PTPN Group. One way is through the establishment of a sugar sector subholding, namely PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN) or SugarCo for national food and energy security.
In order to accelerate the fulfillment of sugarcane-based bioethanol, President Joko Widodo has officially started the program “Cane Bioethanol for Energy Security” which was held at the PT Energi Agro Nusantara (Enero) bioethanol factory, Mojokerto Regency, East Java Province, on Friday (4/11/ 2022).
Main Director of Holding Perkebunan Nusantara PTPN III (Persero) Mohammad Abdul Ghani, said the establishment of PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN) or SugarCo as a subholding in the sugar industry sector was one of the efforts of the Ministry of BUMN to support the acceleration of self-sufficiency in sugar for food sovereignty, while at the same time encouraging the realization renewable energy (EBT). “The increase in national sugarcane production is expected to go hand in hand with the increase in sugarcane-based bioethanol production in the context of energy security, and the implementation of clean energy through the use of biofuels (biofuels).”
