Holding Perkebunan Nusantara PTPN III (Persero) through its subsidiary PTPN V continues to expand the program of utilizing new renewable energy through the processing of palm oil mill effluent (POME) with the construction of a biogas power plant.
Most recently, PTPN V collaborated with Japanese technology company, Aiken Kakoki, to build a cofiring biogas power plant (PTBg). The PTBg cofiring project is carried out at the Sei Garo palm oil mill, Kampar Regency, Riau, with a minimum POME processing capacity of 150 cubic meters per day in conjunction with AIKEN’s research activities for two years.
PTPN V’s commitment to optimizing renewable energy has led it to win second runner up for the Renewable Energy for Cogeneration category in the 2023 Asean Energy Awards (AEA) international event. This award was obtained thanks to one of the latest biogas power plants at the Sei Pagar Palm Oil Mill, Kampar Regency, Riau. This achievement also confirms PTPN V as the only state-owned plantation company to receive the award.
