Community Development

The community is one of the key stakeholders for PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero). Their acceptance of the Company’s existence influences the long-term viability of the Company’s business operations. To gain community support, the Company implements a variety of policies and activities as part of its responsibility to them. One of them is by implementing the Social and Environmental Responsibility of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs TJSL) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The implementation of SOEs TJSL Program is oriented towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is guided by ISO 26000 as the guidelines for program implementation, with the hope that the implementation of SOEs TJSL Program will be more measurable, impactful and sustainable. The objectives of SOEs TJSL program are as follows:

  • Providing benefits for economic development, social development, environmental development and law and governance development for the Company
  • Contributing to the creation of added value for the Company with principles that are integrated, targeted and measurable in impact and accountability
  • Fostering micro and small enterprises as well as communities around the Company to be more resilient and independent.

The Company’s TJSL implementation is constantly implemented through the MSE Funding Program and Other Assistance and/or Activities. Prior to structuring the program, the Company strives to build communication with the local community in order to achieve the best results.

The Company implements the SOEs TJSL Program into two major programs, namely the MSE Funding Program and the Non-MSE Funding TJSL Program (Assistance and/or Other Activities), which are implemented with an integrated and sustainable development concept. In implementing these programs, the Company collaborates with relevant institutions/agencies that are competent in their fields. The non-MSE Funding TJSL Program, which is a program to empower the social conditions of the community by SOEs in the SOEs Areas of Operations, is implemented through the utilization of funds from the SOEs Profit Share.

Based on the realization of non-PUMK TJSL distribution in 2022, it is estimated that as many as 800 thousand people will benefit from PT. Nusantara Plantation III (Persero). The number of non-PUMK TJSL beneficiaries is calculated using a sample of the number of beneficiaries in several non-PUMK TJSL programs, then extrapolated based on costs to other non-PUMK TJSL programs.
