The Company believes that competency development is one of the capitals for business scale growth and development, as well as increasing competitiveness. As a result, Holding Perkebunan Nusantara PTPN III (Persero) organizes training and development programs for all employees on a regular basis. In implementing competency development, the Company encourages all employees, without exception, to develop competencies and assist in their career development. Competency development is conducted through various education and training to improve employees’ soft and hard skills.

Accumulatively, during 2022, the Company has held 150 competency development activities attended by 201,833 people, with an average employee receiving 34.99 hours of training. The costs incurred for competency development in the reporting year were recorded at IDR146.8 billion, an increase compared to 2021, which amounted to IDR41.72 billion.

The Company has also established performance talent assessment system designed to help employees assess their performance of the clear and measurable targets according to organizational goals and KPIs that have been agreed upon by each individual. PTPN has a process to identify employees using Competency Level Index (CLI) Online Assessment to assess performance and potential for hard & soft competencies, and provide assignment opportunities in projects that facilitate their development.

The Company recognizes that, apart from investing in developing employee competencies, it is critical to boost employee retention by providing a comprehensive employee value proposition. The Company conducts employee engagement surveys on a regular basis, as well as surveys and questionnaires on PTPN employee satisfaction, which covers satisfaction with the Company’s culture, environment, and direction.
