Labor & Industrial Relations
The Company upholds the right of employees to associate and assemble as a form of compliance to article 28. Respect for employees’ rights to assemble is one of the best options to create harmonious industrial relations between employees and the Company. For that, the Company gives freedom to all employees to organize in the Company’s Workers Union (SP)organization called the Plantation Workers Union (SPBun), with membership up to December 31, 2022 amounted to 18,261 employees, or 100% of the Company’s employees.
Freedom of association is also supported by PTPN through the Bipartite Cooperation Institution which facilitates quarterly meetings with the Plantation Workers’ Union to discuss actual issues in the field of employment and employee rights. PTPN also ensures that the entire supply chain (including suppliers and contractors) gives their employees the right to organize; this is done through clauses related to forced labor in PTPN supplier and contractor contracts.
